RICKY GERVAIS is aiming for a No1 song as well as a No1 Netflix hit when the third series of After Life is released – because it will be accompanied by his first “serious” song in 40 years.
The comedian has composed and written lyrics for the track, called Just Three Things, which will form part of the show’s soundtrack.

However, he admitted he is anxious about putting it out, as it is a rare move away from comedy.
He explained: “I wrote a song with Andy Burrows for After Life.
“It’s not in the show but the instrumental is, because it’s really good — we recorded it and I’ve even cut an unofficial video for it.
“But I’m worried about putting it out because I’m embarrassed as it’s a real song.
“I can put out ironic songs as David Brent but I haven’t written a serious song in 40 years so I’m thinking, ‘What if it’s crap?’ — but it’s not, it’s really good.”
Ricky has completed work on the third series of the dark comedy, due out next year, which he has vowed will be the final run of episodes for the show.

But it is the song itself which has got him feeling nervous because he fears it could make him a laughing stock — and not for the right reasons.
He said: “It’s not me being me, it’s a song about After Life and Andy’s singing so I wouldn’t need to tell anyone that I’ve written it but still.
“There’s something in it when you’re being serious.
“You’re worried about the critical reaction more than when you’re being stupid because when you’re being stupid and somebody goes, ‘That’s rubbish’ you’re like, ‘I don’t give a fk’.
“If you’re being really serious and someone says, ‘It’s rubbish’, you go, ‘Fk, is it?’
“And also, music means so much to me and there’s so many artists I’m so in awe of, for me to suddenly go: ‘I can do that’
“Plenty of other people have thought that and failed.”
At least it will make some good material for his next stand-up set if it does turn out to be pants.
BUBLE BLUNDER
MICHAEL BUBLE has such a phobia of forgetting his lyrics on stage, he insists on having THREE teleprompters with his words on at every show.
The crooner says he has an incredible memory for words, but freaks out if he doesn’t have prompters there to reassure him.

He said: “You can probably pick any Great American Songbook standard and I would probably know all the words. Somehow, when I hear music, I hear it playing back to me in my head.
“Yet you’re talking to a man who sings with three teleprompters on stage because my fear is always completely blanking.
“But because I have the teleprompters I never forget, because I know it’s there in case I have to look. If it wasn’t there, I would poop my pants and I would be done.”
Away from the stage Buble has been working on a new album from the confines of his home in Canada, due to lockdown restrictions.
Speaking on the And The Writer Is… podcast, he said: “I’m making a record but in the most different way that I’ve ever made a record.
“I’m basically in my underwear in my kitchen.”
LIZZO LOVES ADELE
LIZZO has become close pals with Adele after bonding at a party in LA.
The Truth Hurts singer said: “I met her at a birthday party or a Grammy party – I can’t remember where because I was drunk at both.

“She’s been through similar things that I have, and she’s given me really good advice.”
“We have very similar personalities and the way we think, and we just connected in that way.
“We’re both supreme divas. We know our worth – and we’re also both Tauruses!”
Adele topped the charts last Friday with her comeback album 30 and is on course to retain the title tomorrow.
Figures show she is currently ahead of Westlife, whose new album Wild Dreams is currently at No2, while Gary Barlow’s The Dream of Christmas is forecast to go in at No4.
Jordan North has replaced Fearne Cotton as the host of Top Of The Pops after 19 years.
The Radio 1 DJ will co-host the Christmas and New Year specials with Clara Amfo and said on Twitter: “I’m so excited about this!”
Anne-Marie, Joel Corry, Clean Bandit, KSI and Mimi Webb are among acts who will appear on the shows.
LIL NAS SHINES AT BALL
WITH December, here Lil Nas X celebrated the start of the festive season by dressing up like a Christmas decoration.
He wore a metallic puffer jacket and boots on stage at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour in Texas, but had got rid of most of his gear to perform in just a pleated skirt by the end of his set.

But it will be gold on his mind, not silver, next month when the trophies get doled out at the annual Grammy Awards.
The two-time winning singer was last week nominated in five categories including Album of the Year for his debut Montero.
It spawned hit singles Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and Industry Baby which also received nods. Before he can focus on that though, he will be jetting to the UK for his only performance here of the year.
He has been announced to perform at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball at London’s O2 Arena on December 12.
Hopefully that will be followed by more shows here next year.
RINA’S A SHEER DELIGHT
RISING star Rina Sawayama has kicked off the Christmas party season with a seriously swanky bash.
The singer sipped luxury cocktails at the launch of Grey Goose Duet – a pop-up martini cocktail bar in East London which will be open this weekend.

Dressed to impress, the singer rocked a slashed black dress and long sheer gloves.
Last month Rina wowed with a headline show at The Roundhouse in Camden, London, where she was cheered on by Years and Years’ Olly Alexander.
Sir Elton John is also a fan and collaborated with her earlier this year on her song Chosen Family.
Talking about Rina’s debut album Sawayama, Elton said: “It just blew me away.
“I had to call her up and tell her how brilliant it was. I mean, it was Led Zeppelin meets Prince meets a couple of things that referenced Madonna.”
